My second attempt to say thank-you for an over generous review.

Alas, the technology failed or I pressed the wrong button.

Anyway, I'm not the only rebel in the family. My mother, smuggler of illegal meat and pornography at the end of WW2, was the inventor of the "Irish Turkey."

My annual Christmas story ....

David, thank you so much for this comment. I admire you for being at *any* level of self-sufficiency, and for recognizing why that path is so vital. Mr. Gardiner is quite an inspiration to those of us on the path, isn't he?

It's interesting, too, to see what government is doing to the "hearts and minds" of the people within its *own* borders.

I'm really glad to know that you enjoy the kinds of articles I link to on the Friday editions of STR. My take on STR's thrust is to focus on how to *do* freedom, to live it, to make it. How people are doing and have done just that. I know that makes me an oddball even at STR, but I do think it's Thoreau's way.

Most of all, thank you for the feedback. Whether you know it or not, your kind words will help keep me going, both at STR and here on the blog. Bless you for that.

Cheers,
TJ

That article was a great read. It's an understatement to say that I'm nowhere near self-sufficiency yet, but I hope to be at some point and am very frustrated by the feeling that it will be increasingly difficult the longer it takes me.

I also wanted to say - since you wrote a while ago about thinking of giving it up - that I really look forward to Fridays at STR because you always link to the most interesting stuff in my opinion.
